Do you have any other questions?

Who is Zenbase?

Zenbase, a financial health solution, is the first to offer automated rent reporting and flexible rent payments in Canada and is committed to economic inclusion that fosters financial empowerment for renters.

We help residents with their household finances by automatically reporting any rent payment method to Equifax to build their credit (CreditBuilder) and allow them to pay their rent in smaller instalments throughout the month (CustomRent).

How much does rent reporting (CreditBuilder) cost?

CreditBuilder is absolutely free!

How much do split rent payments (CustomRent) cost?

We have a flat monthly membership fee of $9.90 plus 0.75% based on your rent amount.

If you pay your rent in full through Zenbase on the 1st business day of the month  no membership fee is charged. Don’t forget that you can cancel at anytime with no penalty.

How will CreditBuilder appear on my credit report and when?

A ‘Zenbase’ tradeline (credit account) will appear on your credit report. It may up to 2 months to appear. If you any questions or concerns about what you see on your credit report please email support@myzenbase.com

Can I cancel CreditBuilder?

Yes, you can cancel CreditBuilder at anytime by emailing support@myzenbase.com but no refund will be issued. The trade line on your credit report will be closed and you will not be able to report your rent payments again to Equifax during your current lease to keep things fair.

Do I need to change my payment method when using CreditBuilder?

No, just keep paying your rent the way you currently do. There is absolutely nothing else for you to do each month to build credit!

Can I report previous rent payments?

When signing up for CreditBuilder you will have the option to report up to 24 months of previous rent payments for $19.90. It may take up to 2 months for it to appear on your credit report.

Which credit bureau does CreditBuilder report to?

Zenbase CreditBuilder reports to Equifax Canada, the largest consumer credit bureau in Canada.

How does rent reporting increase your credit score?
Reporting your rent payments with Zenbase CreditBuilder helps boost several different factors that help determine your credit score:
  • Your payment history is your track record of how successful you’ve been at making credit payments, and is the single biggest factor that makes up your credit score. By making your rent payments on time and having them reported to Equifax Canada, you’re building a strong payment history, signalling to lenders that you can be trusted with credit.

  • Your credit mix refers to the various types of credit accounts that make up your credit report. By adding an open tradeline for rent reporting, you’re diversifying the different types of credit on your report, which shows you are able to successfully manage multiple credit accounts.

  • If you’ve never had a credit product before and CreditBuilder is your  first tradeline on your credit report, then you’ll also be building your credit history. The longer your credit history the more trustworthy you’ll be seen by future lenders.
